There are Levels to 'Pasture-Raised.'

  • Every animal on our farm is rotated daily to ensure they are not exposed to their own waste. While many farms may claim to be pasture-raised, they often fail to rotate their animals regularly, leading to the risk of grazing near old manure. Daily rotation is essential to maintaining the health and well-being of our livestock, as well as the quality of our products.

  • Additionally, we maintain a minimum 90-day rest period before any area is regrazed. This practice allows the pasture to recover fully and the manure to decompose naturally. An important benefit of this process is the elimination of parasites that may be present in the old manure before the animals return to the area.

Our Hens

Our hens are genuinely pasture-raised, moved daily to new areas alongside the eggmobile, their home base. This mobile coop offers hay-lined nests for egg-laying, providing a more natural and comfortable environment compared to astroturf or rollaway nest boxes. The hay allows the hens to brood, supporting their instinctual behaviors while also offering shelter from the elements and protection from predators at night.

Throughout the day, they forage on fresh pasture, finding a natural diet of weeds, seeds, grass, and insects. To enhance their nutrition, we supplement their foraging with non-GMO chicken feed, organic juice pulp from local juicers, and spent grain from nearby breweries. This varied diet and consistent access to fresh pasture ensure our hens remain healthy, producing eggs of exceptional quality.

Our Broilers

Our broilers, like our hens, enjoy a varied diet that includes non-GMO chicken feed, organic juice pulp from local juicers, and spent grain from nearby breweries, alongside the natural forage they find in the pasture. They live in a broiler shelter that is moved to fresh ground daily, ensuring they always have access to clean, nutritious pasture. This daily rotation and balanced diet not only contribute to their health and well-being but also result in high-quality, flavorful meat. A distinct feature of our broilers is the vibrant yellow fat they develop, a direct result of their diverse, pasture-based diet.

Our Sheep

Our sheep live in a well-managed enclosure designed to provide comfort and nourishment. Each day, they are rotated to a new section of the pasture, ensuring they always have access to fresh grass and clean ground. In their enclosure, the sheep have access to a mobile shade area, where they can rest away from the sun. Plenty of fresh water is provided daily, as well as a tray filled with free-choice minerals to ensure that they receive the optimal nutrients.

Our Honey: Pure and Local

In collaboration with Amber Pelish and her company, Ambee Assembly, we proudly maintain over 20 locally-sourced bee colonies right here on the farm. Our bees naturally produce raw, unfiltered, and unpasteurized honey, preserving all its native qualities. We use no pesticides or chemicals, ensuring that our honey is as pure and natural as it comes. Every product, from honeycomb to pure honey, is crafted directly by the bees, ensuring an authentic and pure experience. The honey’s antibacterial properties make it a natural remedy, ideal for wound care or even beauty needs, while its evolving flavor reflects the changing nectar flows throughout the seasons. We are committed to providing high-quality honey and other bee products, all procured with care and attention right from our farm.
